Since settling down in PP, we have often walked past these glass stalls on the street corner selling marinated duck and other meat products. You know the ones hanging in the chinatown windows, the same but these guys are mobile! We love duck and they also sell BBQ pork belly which I love just as much. Penny has mentioned buying some a few times now and my usual response is negative as the temperature is over 30 deg. each day and still unsure how to prepare it once we got it home. Do we need to fry it or steam it so not to fall ill? Paranoid much!!
This time Penny pleaded for duck and I couldn’t say no, we agreed we should give it a shot. Penny picked it up and we threw the goods in the fridge whilst we cooked some rice and cut up some cucumber and tomato.
Dinner that night was delicious! We both agreed this is our take out of choice while we’re here.
Mmmm sounds delicious! Personally I’d fry the *%&# out of them to make sure that the bacteria was killed off, but I’m sure some could still seep through!
It’s funny when you talk about takeout as being something that you bring home and cook, though — a bit different to saying “let’s get takeout, who’s going to Maccas?!”
Do you miss Maccas? Does me mentioning it make you sad? Maccas, mmmmmmmm!
Roast duck and rice with cucumber and tomatoes is one of mine and Leigh’s favourite dish!! A good sign to look for is to see if the locals are eating it! If they are, then you’ll be fine.
